Linton Park U13 146 for 6 (20 overs) v Canterbury 88 all out (17.3 overs)
Linton Park Under 13's secured the Kent title in the U13 ECB National Club Championship with a 58 run victory in the Final at Polo Farm against Canterbury CC.
Linton elected to bat first but were soon in trouble at 6 for 2 after 3 overs. George Taylor 33 retired (5 fours and 1 six) responded with some typically aggressive strokes and set the platform for the recovery. Abishek Pushapvinothan 31 retired (5 fours) and Mardey Castle 31 retired (6 fours) took the attack to a toiling Canterbury attack, and Freddie Taylor added a quick fire 20 not out as Linton closed their 20 overs on an impressive 146 for 6 wickets. For Canterbury, Louis Smith was the pick of their attack with 1 for 12 in 4 overs.
Canterbury started their reply positively but their top order succumbed to the left arm pace of Mardey Castle who snapped up 4 for 22 in 4 overs. He was ably supported by Abishek Pushapavinothan who kept the Canterbury batsmen quiet with an impressive spell of 1 for 14 in 4 overs. The Canterbury late order batsmen were left with too much to do with only Toby Pollard (19 ) offering resistance as Sam Smith, Tom Rowe, Toby Hughes and James Brown all snapped up wickets to see Canterbury bowled out for 88. It was an impressive all round display by the Linton team who excelled in the field under the leadership of Max Butler. In the national rounds of the competition Linton are next due to host the Sussex champions on 16th July at Linton.
