Congratulations to Tunbridge Wells Under 11 Girls cricket team. They triumphed in the final of the Kent Lady Taverners Kwik Cricket festival by narrowly beating Canterbury in an incredibly exciting match by just two runs. Tunbridge Wells now go forward to represent Kent at the Regional Finals later on in the season.
Over one hundred girls, aged from 6 to 11 years old, in thirteen teams from across Kent took part in the festival, which was kindly hosted by Upchurch Cricket Club.
Pauline Clark, from the Kent and East Sussex Lady Taverners, assisted by Natasha Newman, KCB Development Officer for Women and Girls, were on hand to present certificates to all the players and medals to the two finalists.
David Sear, festival organiser, said “we had more teams playing this year and at last we were blessed with a lovely day. It was great to see the girls play, and most encouraging seeing many younger girls taking part. Everyone including the girls, team managers, scorers and parents were superb.”
